How They Work

DaHo Hollow Spectra Threading Needles are designed with a hollow shaft (except at the point), allowing monofilament or fluorocarbon line to be inserted directly into the needle.

Once inserted, the needle—along with the internal line—is threaded into the hollow core of the Spectra braid. For optimal strength, the needle and line are typically inserted 3 to 5 feet inside the braid.

Due to the smooth surface of mono and fluorocarbon lines, the exposed end of the Spectra must be secured using one or more of the following methods:

Gluing
Serving
Crimping
Combination of methods

This finishing step ensures the connection remains secure until the braid compresses and locks the lines together under tension.

Selecting the Correct Needle Size

The primary sizing factor for threading needles is the Internal Diameter (ID), which determines the size of mono or fluorocarbon line that can be inserted.

Select a needle based on the actual diameter of your line, not just the labeled strength
Due to manufacturing tolerances, needle IDs may vary by up to ±0.002 inches
For best performance, choose a needle that is at least 0.002 inches larger than your line diameter

This slight clearance allows for easier insertion and smoother operation.
